The most beautiful thing in my life is my family. I have been married to my husband, Jim
for 25 years. We have three children: Ashley (21), Cameron (16) and Peyton (13). They
mean the world to me and I don't think there would be quite as much beauty in my life, if
they weren't in it. Here is my poem:
A daily hug encases me:
Squeezing - softly - so heavenly.
I look into eyes of golden brown.
And think of the love he's given me.
The calm surrounds me peacefully:
My phone - brrring, brrring - noisily chimes.
Her duck-lipped selfie stares at me.
I giggle softly and say hello.
I sit in my Jeep patiently waiting:
His smile - like a burst of sun - appears.
I watch as he flops into the passenger seat.
I'm thankful that his smile is for me.
The room is silent as the music starts:
The voice - angelic - upon the stage.
I gasp and fight to catch my breath.
I wipe my tears and know she's mine.
I agree that family has a great importance when it comes to beauty. I am so grateful for the family that I have. We discussed in class how emotion highly relates and revolves around beauty. If family doesn't bring out enough emotions, then I don't know what does. While reading your poem I felt the emotions and saw images in my head. Emotions of happiness, love and peace flooded my mind while reading. Another aesthetic of beauty was imaginative writing. Your poem did a good job at handling the language by the use of figurative language. You used descriptive detail to place the images of the beauty in your life, in the audiences mind. This conveys its meaning to the audience and gives a better more descriptive understanding.
ReplyDeleteThank you Zach. I'm glad the poem conveyed the emotions that I feel with my husband and each of my kids. Having reciprocated love, laughter, happiness, and pride in my life are all things that I wanted the reader to see and feel.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very beautiful poem about the love and happiness that your family gives. I really identified with this because I am very close to my family, as well. I think my parents are the greatest people in the world, and I have two brothers who I am very close to. I think that beauty is really all about emotion and how something makes each individual fee, and I think family is something that brings a lot of people "beauty."
